Under limited supervision, a Project Manager is responsible for the development, implementation and coordination of a variety of general business or engineering projects developing best practices and tools for project execution and management, managing a cross functional team, providing project communication, managing documentation and reporting, sharing best practice with other team member, and reporting financial performance of the project. The role requires general business knowledge to plan, organize, and control resources, procedures, and timing for an administrative or business process including organizing project teams, assigning individual responsibilities, developing project schedules, and determining resource requirements, monitoring and reporting on the status of projects including cost, timing, and staffing, ensuring adherence to internal and external quality standards, identifying/resolving obstacles to completing project on time and to budget. Duties may include managing multiple, interrelated projects.  At the PMII level, the incumbent applies advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Responsibilities may include managing projects or processes, working independently, and coaching and reviewing the work of lower level professionals. Problems faced are difficult and sometimes complex.


Reporting directly to Vice President Engineering, this position is based in Shreveport, Louisiana*.


Major Accountability:


  • Develop and execute project plans through the effective use of cross-functional team members.

  • Manage project risks, provide optional and parallel projects paths when required.

  • Provide effective, clear communications on behalf of the project team for update and presentations.

    Essential Job Functions:


  • Direct and manage assigned projects for the complete cycle, from project initiation through completion including defining project scope; collaborate with senior management and key stakeholders to set and meet all goals and deliverables in support of the project plan.

  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications including work plan flow, detailed Gantt Chart/Pert Chart and RACI chart, as required for project execution.

  • Communicate project expectations and updates to team members, management and stakeholders.

  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.  Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.

  • As required, negotiate with other departments for acquisition of required personnel from within the company.  Determine and assess need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments during the project cycle.

  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.  Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.

  • Coach, mentor, motivate, influence and supervise project team members to take positive action and accountability for assigned work.

  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.



Job Requirements



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related, or experience in lieu of degree.

  • 4-7 years of experience with degree in project management, 8+ years of experience without degree.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Powerpoint, Excel) required; experience with Microsoft Project.

  • Certified in Six Sigma preferred; PMP preferred.

  • Excellent people skills required to integrate across functional boundaries.
