Under broad supervision, contributes inventions, new designs, or techniques which are of material significance in the solution of important problems. Conceives, plans, and conducts research in emerging areas of embedded connectivity with considerable scope and complexity. Plans, directs, coordinates and controls engineering efforts on a major project or multiple smaller projects and provides expert analysis regarding the design, development, and implementation of technical products and systems with respect to embedded IoT and connected devices. Assignments are broad in nature but potentially have a high impact on the organization.  Problem solving is with highly effective solutions.  Incumbents may be required to complete at least four of the following objectives in a year: 1) Write technical reports documenting the results of key company research and development, 2) Publish internal design or process guidelines for key company components or processes, 3) Conduct training seminars inside or outside of the company in areas of technical specialty, 4) Represent the company on committees and boards related in area of technical specialty, 5) Write technical papers/articles for publication by trade journals or technical societies, 6) Submit a patent disclosure which is accepted. 

This position is based in New Port Richey, Florida*.

Major Accountability:

•        Resolves highly complex connectivity requirements, development, and integration issues of retro-fit and forward looking products.

•        Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures.

•        Performs highly technical engineering work including embedded design/selection, secure communications and commissioning, and client interface and testing.

•        Provides oversight and routine direction to less experienced staff.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

•        Prepares, plans and conducts complex engineering work using non-standard and creative techniques and solutions.

•        Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods and represents the organization in conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work.

•        Leads the investigation and development of new technology or subsystems.

•        Assesses feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluation tests, products, or equipment when necessary data are insufficient or confirmation by testing is advisable.

•        Performs as a staff advisor and consultant in a technical specialty.

•        Reviews and evaluates outside IP submissions, inventions, or competitive IP developments in area of specialization.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

•        Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of experience required.

•        Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

•        Knowledgeable in embedded communications, IoT, edge devices, and commissioning of equipment into the AWS ecosystem.

•        Experienced in digital hardware design, schematic capture, layout, debugging, V&V, and production.

•        Experienced in embedded C, C++, Python, Embedded RTOS, and/or Linux.

•        Routinely performs the most challenging assignments with significant latitude for unreviewed action.

•        Engineering work requires the use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines.

•        Normal office or lab environment.  May be required to lift up to 50 Lbs.
