As a Manufacturing Engineer II you will be responsible to develop necessary bills of material and process routing to manufacture parts per drawing instructions and manufacturing procedures.  You will also work on special projects including: equipment justification and shop efficiency improvements; as well as, perform analyses to develop design options or recommendations for structures, systems and components.  This position will provide work analysis to maintain production standards and cost estimates; conduct feasibility studies; determine manpower and cost estimates; and develop engineering criteria.

Reporting directly to the Manager Manufacturing Engineering III, this position is located in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.

Essential Job Functions

•Interact with Shop Employees, Manufacturing Supervisors, Engineering, Planning and Safety Departments.

•Support of special projects include research, justification and proposals for new equipment , manufacturing methods, design and development, fixtures, and shop efficiency improvements.

•Acts as member of New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to understand new and changed products and support safe and efficient methods to execute manufacturing of these products.

•Uses computer applications as tools to complete tasks (Word, CAD, Excel, CNC programs)

•Conducts feasibility studies, determines manpower and cost estimates, and develops engineering criteria. 

•Conducts safety inspections and tasks as required.

•Communicates a vision and understanding of lean principles.

•Supports Lean Initiatives throughout the manufacturing plant.

•Participates in the development of new and improved processes for safe and efficient manufacturing.

Job Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a minimum of two years of experience is required.

•Demonstrate flexibility – related to the nature of work, flow of orders and solution implementation.

•Microsoft Office applications, CNC programming, 2D/3D CAD experience, and preferably AutoCAD or Pro-E/Creo. 

•Project management experience, OSHA compliance, 6S, Kanban, Kaizen and knowledge of lean manufacturing are all essential qualities for the position.

•Experience with Optimization and Metamation NC programming software as well as sheet metal cutting, including Lasers, Punch, and Shears, and fabrication experience are a plus.
