If so . . . then you could be our next Manager, Operations at Welbilt’s Mississauga facility. *   Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Manager Operations is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and continuously improving the Operations business processes to provide satisfaction to customers, create value to the shareholders, utilize the talents of associates, provide business growth, and meet financial targets in a safe manner. This role oversees people scheduling, assembly lines and fabrication, and leads a team of Supervisors and Manufacturing Engineers to promote and implement Lean Manufacturing concepts. The Manager Operations works with the team to prevent and fix any Quality, and Health and Safety issues, challenge the status quo, and coach the team to embrace the company culture. They will also foster an agile organization and approach problems with an open mind.   Job Responsibilities:
  • Supports Director of Operations to build and develop processes and procedures to support the strategic direction of the Operations
  • Implements initiatives to improve safety, quality, productivity, cost, delivery and employee relations
  • Uses Lean principles to drive continuous improvement and problem solving
  • Direct, layout, plan, and coordinate activities to optimize performance of safety, productivity, product quality, facility utilization, people utilization, inventory management and operating expenses
  • Responsible for managing lean/continuous improvement and for managing staffing requirements to meet key metrics (efficiency, productivity, and overall manufacturing cost)
  • Work with others to resolve cost issues, delivery issues, quality issues and material issues for efficient manufacturing
  • Maintains good employee relations and compliance to various employment laws, takes proper and judicious disciplinary action when required                                                                                                                               
  • Develop, coordinate, and control capital expenditure programs to achieve the objectives of the strategic plan
  • Implement and comply with all company policies, procedures, and laws and provide a safe work environment.  Including utilization of Welbilt SMS Program.                                                                                                                                                         

Job Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Four-year degree in Engineering, Operations, or Business
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in Manufacturing
  • Technical skills in Lean Manufacturing techniques, Kaizen, Process improvement, welding and sheet metal experience
  • Strong communication skills both orally and written
  • Must possess strong coaching skills
  • Should have knowledge of Word Processing software, Spreadsheet software, Internet software; Order processing systems and Manufacturing software (Microsoft Office, and QAD)
  • High commitment to getting things done, results orientated and driven
  • Must have excellent problem solving/analytical skills
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize daily work activities
  • Able to deal with frequent change, delay, or unexpected events
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex tasks with excellent attention to detail
  • Combination of office and plant environment
