The Manager, Embedded Controls manages embedded controls for all Frymaster platforms. The ideal candidate works collaboratively with other functional areas to set and meet priorities that support the business strategy; identifies and defines system architectures, hardware requirements, and application software functionality for the brand.  They will work with the corporate controls group to develop common controls needs, implement processes and tools, and create budgets and timelines for controls projects.

 Reporting directly to the Director Engineering, this position is based in Shreveport, Louisiana*.

Major Accountability:

  • Creates department and/or project timelines and budgets.

  • Hardware and software requirements for Frymaster applications of common controls.

  • Implementation and validation of embedded controls for Frymaster product platforms.

  • Sustaining support for legacy controls.

Essential Jon Functions:

  • Provides technical leadership.

  • Works collaboratively with other functional areas to drive priorities that support the business strategy.

  • Works closely with Welbilt controls team to align with and fully leverage common controls platforms.

  • Plans, directs and controls engineering effort directly related to embedded controls subsystems, including establishing controls objectives, budget, and timeline.

  • Works with suppliers to validate controls against requirements and achieve reliability and compliance.

  • Represent Frymaster in controls roadmap development planning for Welbilt.

  • Maintains close contact and coordinate activities with other groups within the product Engineering Department.

  • Collaborates and communicates with peers at other Welbilt brands.

  • Supervises work of assigned resources including internal or external contractors.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering

  • 7-10 years of experience and technical expertise in both embedded controls hardware and software.

  • Working knowledge and experience with waterfall/V and agile development processes.

  • Expereince with Linux OS in real time control applications, wireless communications, ARM processors, and touchscreen interfaces.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management.

  • Ability to effectively coordinate day-to-day engineering responsibilities and provide basic direction to assigned team.

Working Conditions:

  • Able to travel up to 15% of the time.

  • Normal office or lab environment with ability to go on the production floor when needed.

  • Ability to wear all personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • May be required to work off-schedule hours to meet goals and objectives.
