If you have a talent for sourcing and category management, your new career awaits you at Welbilt Inc.   As Category Sourcing Manager, you will be responsible for defining global category strategies as well as identifying, selecting and developing strategic suppliers around the globe to optimize the total cost of externally purchased goods and services.   Reporting to Welbilt’s Director of Cold Side Categories, this person may work remotely if they live near one of our facilities in Manitowoc, WI, Mount Pleasant, MI, and Covington or Parsons, TN, although frequent travel will be required.   We put the 'fast' in fast food and the refinement in fine dining.   • Develops and manages, with input from our Product Lines, overall strategic supplier category related to plastics and others for our Product Line solutions.
  • Communicates the category strategy within our global organization.
  • Manages sourcing decisions covering selected commodities with specific focus on plastic related components within Welbilt’s product lines.
  • Investigates and qualifies new suppliers as required for new products and or improved supplier base.
  • Negotiates and manages (long term) supply agreements in support of overall supply chain goals and objectives
  • Develops keen awareness of industry performance benchmarks.
  • Establishes top-level plans providing foundation for improved Welbilt factory flexibility and responsiveness.
  • Establishes and manages key supplier performance goals and objectives.
  • Communicates periodic results to plan and manages top-level continuous improvement.
  • Drives supplier corrective action response as needed based on impact level risk to the company.

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business, engineering, supply chain, or operations management.
  • A minimum of five years of previous purchasing, operational management, or engineering experience.
  • Experience with emphasis on injection molding, vacuum forming, blow molding and other plastics related processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 40% including overnight trips.
  • Demonstrated skills in team development, leadership skills, and negotiations.
  • Works well under pressure, able to prioritize workload, and exhibits bias for action
