As Manager Commodity at Manitowoc Ice this person is responsible for developing and managing strategic alignment of sourcing and supplier relationships at product Line level; has a leadership role in product line Savings and our Business Transformation Process activities and (GMO & Enterprise) initiatives; working closely with Engineering, ensures technical/engineering analysis is part of component selection per application in our equipment.  Develops and manages Suppliers, Supplier Agreements, and Supply Chain initiatives for product line.

Reporting directly to the Souring Project Manager, this position is based in Manitowoc, Wisconsin*.

Major Accountability:

  • Achievement of site savings and cost reduction targets 

  • Site supplier metrics consistent with targets: OTD, DPM, COPQ 

  • Timely NPI gate approvals with local Sourcing content 

  • Timely resolution of local Supply issues 

 

Key Tasks & Responsibilities: 

  • Assists in the attainment of GMO direct and indirect savings projects as well as Sourcing actions and NPI gate requirements based on the global NPI process, ensuring overall prices meet or exceed plant savings goals. 

  • Manages plant suppliers to meet metrics in terms of cost, quality, delivery, service and technical support within the assigned Value Stream. 

  • Manages the supplier readiness matrix for plant NPI projects and ensures timely task completion, with Category Sourcing support as needed. 

  • Supports global/regional Strategic Sourcing projects led by Category Leaders using the Strategic Sourcing cross-functional Enterprise processes. 

  • Provides global Category Sourcing support for Innovation, NPI, KC, and Value Stream GMO savings initiatives where required.

  • Develops relationships with local supplier base in coordination with the Category Sourcing Leads

     

Job Requirements

Job Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Supply Chain Management or Engineering and a minimum four years of experience with a strong track record of accomplishments in high volume, repetitive, manufacturing sourcing; will consider 10 years of experience with a strong track record of accomplishments in high volume, repetitive, manufacturing sourcing, in lieu of education.
  • Prior purchasing experience and industry knowledge, preferably in Food Service, HVAC or Appliance commodity category areas.
  • Some exposure to international sourcing in the Asian and Mexican markets preferred.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and financial skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good leadership, negotiating, influencing and persuasive skills.
  • Project a strong professional image in representing the organization.
  • International travel 25% of the time, is required.
