As Engineering Lab Technician, you will assist to perform testing and data collection on product and components for agency compliance, NPI, reliability and the value stream teams.  The testing will cover both Gas and Electric products. This role also includes data analysis and test fixture building.  This position is technical and hands on in nature.


Reporting directly to Engineering Lab Manager, this position is located in Mississauga, ON*.

Essential Job Functions:


  • Work primarily within Garland Engineering Lab on NPI Project testing

  • Assist with field inspections from time to time

  • Perform various electrical/mechanical safety and reliability tests

  • Work with design engineer on PLC programming

  • Assist design/build test fixtures, prototype building, wiring

  • Mechanical/Electrical troubleshooting

  • Set up various test instrumentation (netdaqs/thermocouples, etc.)

  • Assist in the development of the test plan and execute accordingly

  • Record observations and create reports

  • Keep lab clean and organized, work safely

  • This position is technical and hands on in nature.


Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

  • Experience in a testing lab laboratory/equipment and with data acquisition systems is an asset

  • Experience in the design and use of test fixturing. This position is technical and hands on in nature.

  • Experience using Microsoft office is a must, experience with solid work is a plus

  • Provide clear and concise verbal & written communication

  • Perform work to the required level of accuracy

  • Strong analytical capabilities

  • Able to effectively organize and prioritize multiple tasks and work with engineering, marketing, procurement and service managers on multiple simultaneous projects.

  • Must be able to work flexible hours

  • Accountability for actions is a must
