The Senior Cost Account is responsible for compiling data, preparing, and submitting statistical reports for the comparison of costs and determination of profitability of product and or customer.

Reporting directly to the Manager, Financial Reporting, Planning & Analysis this position is based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada*.

Major Accountability:

  • Analysis of standard versus actual costs to identify variances
  • Determine and implement cost accounting procedures and methods
  • Prepare and analyze cost reports and costing audits
  • Assist less experienced staff on process/procedural steps and guideline compliance

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Provides analysis of actual costs. Efficiency, productivity, PV, FX transfer price analysis.
  • Analyzes cost records and calculation of unit cost for products or services related to a specific job or project; examines any costs that seem contrary to experience.
  • Ensures that assigned processes, procedures and workflows are completed consistent with corporate guidelines and compliant with internal and external requirements.
  • May lead related projects.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, CPA, CFA, MBA preferred
  • Strong software applications skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Cost Accounting experience is an asset. QAD ERP, Hyperion HFM, Power BI systems
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Work effectively with all levels of management and staff.
