In this role, with your experience in thermodynamics and combustion, you will work on the development, implementation and launch of projects including planning, directing, coordinating and controlling the engineering effort directly related to the assigned area of responsibility or special assignment.  You will work independently and carry out moderately complex projects from start to finish and assist Management in coordinating and controlling group activities as required.


Reporting directly to the Staff Engineer, this position is located in Concord, ON*.

Essential Job Functions:

•         Designs and engineers cooking and warming equipment and related products, in a team effort with purchasing, manufacturing, service, marketing, and finance, to meet or exceed customer expectations for features, performance, quality, reliability, and cost.

•         Plans phases of product development, including drafting, bill of material creation and entry. Some rough cut model building, prototype/pilot assembly and unit performance/reliability testing may be required.

•         Develops rough cut, costed bills of material to assure concept economic viability. Using the list of new parts developed determines commonality and obsolescence of components.

•         Develops designs in accordance with the project timeline. Follows the NPI in developing and implementing the schedule.

•         Responsible for preparation of engineering change orders.

•         Participates in Product Team meeting and completes assignments as directed by the team.

•         Provides technical assistance to support obtaining agency approvals for the product.

•         Drafts validation plans, writes lab work requests, and reports on validation results

•         Provide technical support and leadership in areas of assigned responsibility including material selection, structural requirements, tolerances, aesthetics and testing. Designs and engineers cooking and warming equipment and related products, in a team effort with purchasing, manufacturing, service, marketing and finance to meet or exceed customer expectations for features, performance, quality, reliability and cost.

•         Implement necessary design changes, using Solidworks.                                                  

•         Problem Solving, root cause analysis, drafting 8Ds and working with other departments to resolve engineering related issues.                        


Job Requirements


- Bachelor's degree with 5-8 years of experience

•Takes initiatives and follows through tasks with the least amount of supervision

• Good interpersonal and organization skills

• Able to perform in a team environment

•  Demonstrate special skills including thermodynamics, combustion, gas or electrical knowledge

•  Experience in drafting validation plans and overseeing them

•  Demonstrate sound problem solving skills using engineering practices

•   Ability to take a project form inception to production

•   Knowledge on DFMEA

•    Proficient in Solidworks Cad software. (Up to 1000h of Solidworks experience)

•    Experience in Sheet Metal and design
