Job Description

  • The Sourcing buyer will lead efforts in exploring, initiating, developing, and validating opportunities in cost saving, quality improvements and other supply chain related opportunities. The individual in this role will act as the technical interface between suppliers and development/ manufacturing engineers to determine new and alternate sources
  • In order to facilitate the sourcing process, the Sourcing buyer forms relationships with important suppliers in the industry. It’s important that Sourcing buyer maintain relationships with their suppliers in order to ensure continual improvement in sourcing 
  • Sourcing buyers are responsible for negotiating deals and contracts with suppliers. They negotiate pricing, quantity, and delivery schedules. Should anything change in the sourcing process, they’re responsible for renegotiating new contracts as well.
  • The Sourcing Specialist then drafts detailed contracts to be reviewed by both company and the supplier.
  • In order to be an expert in the sourcing process for their company, the Sourcing buyer must have an in-depth knowledge of their commodity industry. They have to understand the ins and outs of the commodity to know how to effectively source it, and they also have to have knowledge of all key players and suppliers in the industry.
  • Review Approved Supplier List (ASL) and identify improvement opportunities in the cost, quality and flow of supplied materials throughout the entire supply chain.
  • Work with New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to ensure the integrity and clarity of engineering drawing requirements and that all expectations are communicated effectively to supporting suppliers.
  • Interact with NPI teams to ensure suppliers are involved in development and review of specifications to promote design for manufacturability.
  • Use project management skills and tools to investigate alternate component technologies for reduced cost or improved quality and reliability and implements changes.
  • Continuous involvement in the Supplier Selection Process to develop a supply base that provides competitive advantage in quality, value/cost, delivery and technology.
  • Conduct supplier system and process audits in compliance with Supplier Certification Audit Questionnaire and monitoring goals and objectives.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering
  • 6-8 years of experience in enterprise technical support
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent client-facing skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, and able to work/support well with overseas experts.
  • Good customer service mind and customer relationship creation.
  • Good command of both spoken and written English is a plus.
