As Quality Manager, you will manage the quality assurance function and team to ensure product quality and reliability.  Drive root cause analysis of field and lab failures to identify issues.  Implement processes and procedures to prevent reoccurrence.   In addition, this position will also be responsible for the management of Engineering Lab including but not limited to supervision of employees, lab functions, lab safety, employee training, and assigning work assignments.

Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, this position is based in Parsons, Tennessee*.

Major Accountability:

  • Provide leadership and direction to ensure product quality and reliability.
  •  Development and support for reliability and warranty improvements, data analysis and corrective action / continuous improvement.
  • Supports new product development teams on new product designs and modifications to ensure compatibility with production processes and quality standards.
  • Management of Engineering Lab including but not limited to supervision of employees, lab functions, lab safety, employee training, agency and or customer certifications, assigning work assignments.                                                                                                                                                                                

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Resolve quality issues with manufactured product. Involvement entails full spectrum engagement – from diagnosis to corrective action development and deployment.
  • Design and implement forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data including monthly meetings for report out.
  • Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to ensure quality systems are at their optimum, and agency and customer certifications are maintained.
  • Coordinate communication and training on quality requirements and tools required to support and improve the quality system.
  • Develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant materials and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility.
  • Applies quality system purchased products or components and provides input to the decision to accept the product and future purchases from the vendor.
  • Oversee and conduct evaluations on test field return components/equipment to determine root cause analysis and determine corrective actions.
  • Prep machinery and conduct testing including but not limited to product development tests, service diagnostic tests, machine performance tests, and special/custom tests.
  • Manage the daily activities of Engineering Lab Department personnel including but not limited to supervision, training, safety, environmental compliance and ensuring acceptable housekeeping.
  • Oversee and conduct evaluations on test field return components/equipment to determine root cause analysis and determine corrective actions.
  • Manage department budget including ensuring that inventory adjustments for materials utilized by the Engineering Lab are made.  Rebuild, restock, or properly dispose of test equipment when tests are complete.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quality, Manufacturing or Business and 6 years’ experience in quality reliability functions; Will consider a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in lieu of education.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language.
  • Strong analytical capabilities
  • Able to effectively organize and prioritize multiple tasks and work with engineering, marketing, procurement and service managers on multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Must be PC literate with high level expertise in the MS Office Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
  • Ability to work within defined procedures as well as able to handle different and specialized situations.
  • Experience with mechanical equipment, and manufacturing processes such as sheet metal, fabrication welding, assembly processes, electrical circuits and gas technology.
  • Ability to effectively manage people.
  • EPA refrigerant handling certification.
  • Must be able and willing to use required personal protective equipment (PPE), as needed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Travel required 10%.
