As Buyer - you will be responsible for all necessary purchasing activities for Garland Operation’s warehouse activities. This position will work directly with the operations team, solving issues and improving processes to ensure smooth efficient fulfillment of customer orders.

Reporting directly to the Materials Manager; this position is located in Mississauga, ON*.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Releasing supplier schedules and discrete orders to suppliers to support manufacturing, as well as expediting and following up on past due orders to meet assembly requirements.  
  • Review planning parameters and make changes to improve material flow and inventory levels.
  • Work with suppliers to improve on-time delivery, quality issues, reduced lead times, and minimum buys.
  • Assist / perform as required QAD planning parameters and system setup to support efficient order fulfillment.  
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area and set an example for fellow staff members with a 5S approach.       
  • Develop open and transparent communications with peers within the Materials team as well as other functional areas.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration; with a minimum of three years of manufacturing/materials planning and scheduling experience is required. Will consider a minimum of eleven years of manufacturing/materials planning and scheduling experience in lieu of education.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working with QAD.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to function as part of multiple teams in a fast paced and multi-tasking environment.
  • Must be highly organized and comfortable working with tight deadlines.
  • Must be motivated and passionate about the work content.
  • Ability to think creatively.
