As the Model Shop Fabrication Technician, you will be responsible for building parts and modifying parts through sheet metal fabrication, bending and other forming operations, cutting of raw stock, welding of metal parts, bonding, painting, deburring, and other common fabrication techniques.

 

Reporting directly to the Model Shop Supervisor, this position is based in New Port Richey, Florida.

Major Accountabilities:

  • Review part models and drawings and select process and machines to fabricate prototype parts

  • Program NC machines or develop process steps required to complete fabrication

  • Set up machines and all required fixturing and operate machines to produce parts and weldments

  • Make all necessary measurements to confirm parts meet specifications

  • Oversee all PM and repairs to machining equipment

Essential Job Functions:

  • Review of specifications received from Engineering and determination of feasibility to produce required geometry and critical part features

  • Communicate with multiple design groups and lab supervisor to reach consensus on process, timing, material choice, and other key decision points for requested parts         

  • Produce parts and confirm compliance with all CTQ's

  • Track machine conditions and use and schedule necessary PM and repairs

  • Provide support for other fabrication and assembly activities in the model shop as needed

  • Certified Fork Truck operator.

  • Responsible for 5S in the model shop

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma and a minimum of 2 years of experience.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to stay on your feet for up to 8 hours per day.

  • Ability to travel 5% of the time.

  • Forklift Operation Certificate

  • Ability to work effectively, internally and externally, with all levels staff and management.

  • Team oriented.

  • Ability to handle a fast pace, frequent change, delay or unexpected events.

 

 Working Conditions:

This position requires labor. You will be up on your feet up to 8 hours a day and required to lift up to 50 pounds.
