The Material Handler III-Shipping will be responsible for pulling, loading, and invoicing of finished goods and aftermarket service products. The employee will be responsible for coordinating outbound shipments accurately and on time.

Reporting directly to the Production Supervisor, this position is based in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Utilize hand trucks, hoists, powered industrial trucks, and other handling equipment to move materials and products as needed for production, shipping, or waste management
  • Must have ability to utilize both the AS400 ERP system and RF Scanners
  • Must be able to complete shipment documentation which includes but is not limited to the following:
  1. Ensure product is shipped per customer order specifications, and associated bills of lading and/or export paperwork provided with shipments as required.
  2. Must be able to read bills of lading and provide freight charges as required per shipment terms.
  3. Shipments and associated documentation must be invoiced, scanned, and retained per organizational legal requirements.
  • Must be able to coordinate with local LTL freight terminals daily to accommodate ship volumes and balance outbound activities with scheduled truckload shipments.
  • Must have the ability to coordinate with Production Control, Customer Service, Crating, Transfer Specialists, Accounting, and freight carriers and forwarders.
  • Must score atleast a 70% on Material Handler exam when interviewed for the position.
  • Scan kanban cards when pulled, load materials on the transfer screen, unload at the appropriate warehouse, print new cards, and locate at the required location in the plant

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of material handling experience; shipping experience a plus.
  • Ability to work a 10 AM to 6 PM 2nd shift- does qualify for shift differential; ability to work overtime as necessary to complete the job.
  • Advanced comprehension and intermediate math skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and required inventory management systems such as MRP, ERP, and AS400
  • Ability to demonstrate safe and effective operation of all required equipment, tools, and powered industrial trucks
  • Must understand Kanban techniques, utilization of CRT’s and the computer system as it applies to the department
  • Must understand CRT, and material handling scanning capabilities
  • Stand and walk on concrete up to 100% of work day
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs alone and over 50 lbs with assistance
  • Ability to climb and balance
  • Ability to use hands to reach and to handle or feel
  • Manual dexterity in hands for tool usage
  • Ability to visually inspect product
  • Work in non-temperature controlled environments
  • Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment
