The Material Handler II: Kitting- 3rd Shift performs the duties by coordinating parts presentation to assemblers and other plant personnel to ensure maximum productive time of assembly line by filling carts to appropriate levels of inventory with minimum preparation needed for operator.

Reporting directly to the Sr Project Manager, this position is based in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Utilize vertical storage units (a.k.a. Modulas), customized kitting-carts, electric-tuggers, hand trucks, hoists, powered industrial trucks, and other handling equipment to move materials and products needed for assembly.
  • Perform weigh-counting and physical-counting items on a continuous basis. Maintain an accuracy of 99%.
  • Perform cycle counts and required inventory management functions; assist in root-cause analysis of any discrepancies.
  • Fill kitting-carts to appropriate levels of inventory with minimum preparation needed for operator.
  • Determine order of manufacture (2-days before manufacturing start-date) and is responsible for production requirements being met by the assembly line (monitor pace).
  • Complete and maintain accurate electronic processes and paperwork (including but not limited to short lists, stamping, blueprints, bar coding, and shipping/receiving systems)
  • Must be knowledgeable of or able to successfully learn Min-Max (trigger points) and Kanban techniques, utilization of computer systems (AS400, Modula’s Operating system, etc.) as it applies to the department.
  • Observe all prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain work area in a neat, clean and orderly condition
  • Must have successfully completed or be able to complete the Forklift Certification Training.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of material handling experience
  • Must understand Kanban techniques, utilization of CRT’s and the computer system as it applies to the department
  • Must understand CRT, and material handling scanning capabilities
  • Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment

Working Conditions:

  • Stand and walk on concrete up to 100% of work day
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs alone and over 50 lbs with assistance
  • Ability to climb and balance
  • Ability to use hands to reach and to handle or feel
  • Ability to visually inspect product
  • Work in non-temperature controlled environments
