This position is part of the Custom Products team that provides customer specific solutions.  As part of this team, the incumbent will create equipment layout drawings, design sheet metal components and assemblies in accordance with established practices, CSA and NSF standards to meet customer requirements.  Tasks relate to design, fabrication, test and reliability of mechanical and electromechanical food service products and systems. 

Reporting directly to the Customs Products Manager, this position is based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada*.

Major Accountability:

  • Works on design of customer specific requests.
  • Prepares drawings and cost information as required.
  • Responsible for timely development of sheet metal assemblies and components.
  • Follow designs through fabrication and assembly to verify effectiveness and compliance.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  1. Design custom sheet metal components and assemblies.
  2. Create 3D models and fabrication drawings using SolidWorks.
  3. Interpret customer requests from rough sketches, basic descriptions, equipment schedules, consultant specifications and building construction drawings.
  4. Create equipment layout drawings using AutoCAD.
  5. Create bills of materials and Routings in QAD.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledgeable of fundamental engineering principles concepts, practices and procedures of a field of specialization.
  • A basic understanding of design theory and the ability to read and prepare drawings.
  • Good working knowledge SolidWorks sheet metal and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (metal fabrication, welding, fastening) The work and order flow require flexibility with ongoing planning revisions
  • Demand for flexibility in solutions and revisions to implemented solutions
