Under supervision, the Logistics Specialist assists with coordination of shipping and scheduling with transport carriers and provides customer service and offsite warehouse support.  You will provide information to the logistics planning process based on your knowledge and data you gather, and you will also analyze performance trends to identify logistics issues and opportunities for cost savings and improvements. May research and resolve discrepancies on orders to meet on-time shipping targets

Reporting directly to the Data Manager, this position is based in Jeffersonville, Indiana*.

 Major Accountability:
  • Tracks incoming shipments with carriers and resolves freight related issues on outgoing shipments.
  • Provide comprehensive reports and statistical information to support logistics functions and Welbilt KitchenCare programs.
  • Develop complex analytical reports based on logistics statistical data.
  • Analyze carrier delivery's and supply chain processes to identify and recommend changes, as well as confer with logistics category managers to determine ways to maximize service levels, maintain supply chain efficiency, and minimize costs.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Assists with customer returns and investigates any shipping/receiving issues.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining cost estimates, forecasts, and cost models as related to freight and freight carriers

  • Coordinates routine manual freight quotes.  

  • Creates and issues customs documents, as required.

  • Undertakes level one resolution of freight issues and ensures appropriate escalation when required.

  • Responsible for conducting analysis and creating reports of weekly and monthly KPIs and forecasts.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements
  • High School Diploma required, or equivalent.
  • Preferred two (2) years of experience in freight or warehousing operation.

  • Must have excellent communication skills and ability to interact with customers effectively.

  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and other relevant MS software. ERP systems knowledge a plus

  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds

  • This work typically requires extended periods of sitting at a desk in a typical office environment

  • Attention to detail
