The Fabrication Technician I performs duties required set-up and operate fabrication equipment for forming, bending, and punching on a variety of sheet metal, plates, and other parts and materials.  

Reporting directly to the Production Supervisor, this position is based in Shreveport, Louisiana*.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Work from work orders, blueprints, written and verbal instructions. Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
    Positions workpiece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade.
  • Pushes button or depresses pedal to activate machine
  • Make first piece inspection and make any required set-up adjustments.      
  • Observes machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.
    Measures workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation
  • Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from workpiece.
  • Exercise proper care in the use of tools, equipment, and materials; avoid excessive scrap.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Less than 1 year of experience
  • Typically requires standing and/or walking for extended periods of time
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs alone and over 50 lbs with assistance
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch
  • Ability to use hands to reach and handle or feel
  • Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment
