The Director Human Resources (HR) is responsible for driving the people strategy and culture in China and APAC Regions. The Director will oversee the effective HR operations to include but not limited to; Retention, Employee Engagement, Management Selection, Employee Relations, Career Development, and Succession Planning while ensuring all sites are legally complaint in all aspects. They will provide advice and counsel to leaders and associates on a wide array of talent considerations including organizational design, team dynamics, retention and engagement, and coaching for enhanced performance, positive employee relations and skill building. The Director will partner with leadership and facilitate the improvements in organizational performance to drive business results through our workforce. They will provide leadership and influence the design, development and implementation of creative solutions related to retention, culture and leadership/management effectiveness issues in the region.

Reporting directly to the EVP and Chief Human Resources Officer – this position will be based in Shanghai or Hangzhou, China.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Directs all daily human resources operations including providing direct oversight of the establishment and implementation of human resource policies in the region.
  • Provides ongoing thought leadership and consultation by applying design-thinking principles to provides new and innovative HR solutions to address and solve business needs and issues.
  • Focuses on a collaborative mindset to ensure alignment and engagement, incorporate change management principles to new programs and concepts.
  • Leads the development, implementation, and communication of talent development strategy to attract, engage and retain talent by offering innovative and performance enhancement programs.
  • Strategizes solutions by leveraging and relying on data to draw insights and create value through fact-based decision making and deliver data-driven actionable solutions.
  • Develops a human-centric approach to employee relations by fostering a positive, equitable and ethical workplace environment.
  • Provides expert level consultation, guidance and support to management and leadership in all matters related to employee relations.
  • Provides leadership, guidance and coaching to team members to ensure they are fully engaged, feel valued, and are successful in delivering on their personal and business goals, and act as the steward of their career journey.
  • Champions behavior that is aligned with the company's code of conduct and respectful workplace expectations and “People First” corporate culture.
  • Establishes principles and practices for the HR function by determining key performance indicators and measurements for staff and developing HR goals, objectives, systems and processes.
  • Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures for continuous improvement of the HR function and overall operations.
  • Coaches and manages employees on people matters including performance, terminations, disciplinary issues, career development, covering office and production site employees
  • Participates in external hiring and source internal candidates. Approves offer package as prepared by local HR team.
  • Provides advice and strategic direction on organization design, restructuring and cultural change, execute specific measures, and support related communication.
  • Performs effective HR analytics by analyzing relevant parameters (e.g. Recruiting KPIs/staffing situation, demographics, attrition) and proactively identify issues, highlight implications and derive actions if needed. Provides data driven insights for business decisions.
  • Drives talent development in the team based on business and operational needs, including related discussions (e.g. succession planning, talent review/forum), support unit’s candidate management. Discuss with unit leaders to identify training needs and, if applicable, demand for customized solutions.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree; preferably in Human Resources, Business Management or related discipline; with a minimum of 15 years of experience in Human Resources with a strong focus on performance management, learning and development, talent management, employee relations and compensation is required. Will consider a minimum of 23 years of Human Resources experience in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional HR experience in a multinational company environment with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of local employment laws and regulation.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills in both English and Chinese, organizational and cultural awareness.
  • Strong business affinity and acumen, experience working with senior management and ability to operate and influence with impact in a matrix environment.
  • Ability to apply consultative skills in a business environment, coach and mentor others, facilitate groups, manage performance, assess needs of team & Change management
  • Must be fluent in English and Mandarin language.
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time. Cities traveling to include Shanghai, Hangzhou or Foshan.
