Under moderate supervision, the Cost Accountant is responsible for analysis of actual versus standard costs, prepares reports of variances and conducts simple cost audits. Responsible for compiling data, preparing and submitting statistical reports for the comparison of costs and determination of profitability by product and/or customer. Conducts moderately complex cost audits. Prepares and submits statistical reports for the comparison of costs and determination of profitability by product. Prepares estimates of new or proposed product costs. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. 


Reporting directly to the Controller, this position is based in Shreveport, Louisiana. 


Major Accountability:

  • Analysis of standard versus actual costs to identify variances.

  • Determine and implement cost accounting procedures and methods.

  • Prepare and analyze cost reports and costing audits.

  • May assist less experienced staff with process/procedural direction

Essential Functions:

  • Provides analysis of actual costs.

  • Analyzes cost records and calculation of unit cost for products or services related to a specific job or project; examines any costs that seem contrary to past experience.

  • Ensures that assigned processes, procedures and workflows are completed consistent with corporate guidelines and compliant with internal and external requirements.

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Accounting and Finance at a minimum.
  • Manufacturing background preferred 
  • Must have working knowledge of an ERP system. Should have knowledge of Word Processing software, Spreadsheet software, Internet software; Order processing systems and Manufacturing software (Microsoft Office, and QAD)
  • The successful candidate must possess good verbal and written communications skills and be able to function as part of multiple teams in a fast paced and multi-task environment.  Must be highly organized and comfortable working with tight deadlines.  Must be detail oriented.
  • This position will have interaction with internal contacts in Operations, Materials, Engineering, Purchasing, and Sales.

Working Conditions:

  • Typically office environment, but will require interaction on the production floor regularly.

  • Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
